Participation in United Nations 2022 ECOSOC Partnership Forum

CICED experts took part in the annual UN ECOSOC forum. Forum 2022 was held on February 2, 2022 with the theme of “Recovering from the (COVID-19) pandemic while advancing towards the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”. It was attended by numerous participants and stakeholders, including member states, the United Nations system, international financial institutions, as well as international organizations, parliamentarians, local authorities, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, civil society, scientists, academia.

Participants discussed solutions and policies to overcome the results of the COVID-19 pandemic, guided by the SDGs. They (a) exchanged new ideas, expectations and priorities, which should be further explored by the Council and the High Level Political Forum in the coming months; and (b) highlighted promising initiatives and partnerships by countries and all relevant stakeholders that can help recover from the pandemic and accelerate progress towards the 2030 SDG Agenda. The experts of the Center took part in 4 round tables and sessions. The partnership forum was held in a hybrid format.

 As part of the preparations for the Partnership Forum, a global online stakeholder consultation was organized to gather views and input from al stakeholders and make them widely available prior to the event. UNDESA has published a synthesis report presenting key findings. The Center took an active part in this work. The report can be found here.
