The READ 2 program in Cambodia aimed to assist MoEYS in building its staff capacities to bring the national assessment results to schools to improve student learning. While working towards this objective, the program achieved much more than it had intended: it created a national core team of trained MoEYS officers and teachers who are now able to assist other teachers and principals to improve instruction and learning outcomes. This core team of trainers are now making positive impacts on classroom assessment and teaching approaches around Cambodia.
“On behalf of EQAD team, I sincerely appreciate the support from the READ 2 project of the World Bank. Throughout the project, our team learnt a lot from the assessment experts […] in terms of data analysis, result interpretation, report writing and lesson plan preparation. Though the project is about to finish, our team is committed to continuing to use the products from READ2 project to strengthen teachers’ capacities on classroom assessment and teaching pedagogy to improve students’ learning outcomes.” – Mr. Sarin Sar, a chief of Office of Education Quality Assurance, EQAD, MoEYS.
These words highlighted the journey made by Cambodia in recent years on improving the use of the results of national assessments.
